Pix Bar has sprung up in some of the trendiest locations in London, and trendy is definitely the key word here. I tried out the Notting Hill Pix.
Tempting cocktails – and the food is small ‘pinchtos’ plates, which are sat attractively on the bar looking so damn good they practically drag you in through the window. The food is inspired by the small plates found in the Pinchto bars of Barcelona and San Sebastian.
The food is self service, perfect if you don’t want to wait, terrible if your eyes are bigger than your belly. You just go up to the bar, pick up what you fancy and save the little sticks the bites are presented on, which get totalled up as you go along.
The food – pinxtos – basically little bites on cocktail sticks, and served in a shot glass, a dish or on crusty bread. Just be careful how much you scoff- the food is all so tempting and moreish and in your face that those little sticks can add up! I really liked the green olives covered in ricotta, the seared tuna on crusty bread and the sticky sweet chilli sausages. A baby cup of chocolate sauce with a churros to dip was fun for dessert.
Everyone that works at Pix Bar is INCREDIBLY good looking, so be prepared to feel like the ugly duckling, however the staff are really friendly and charming. It has some serious food and drink on the menu, but the atmosphere is cool and relaxed- The décor is modern and slick, and the music current. You can just turn up, grab a plate and get stuck in. This would be a great place to hold a party, it has a great atmosphere and with the cocktails and self serve food it’s perfect.
I can see how lunch could turn into dinner that could turn into running for the last train home after a visit here, it’s laid back, there’s free flowing food and drink, and a whole lot of eye candy….
